March 16, 2020
In response to the identification of COVID-19 in Johnson County, University of Iowa CAMBUS is announcing changes to its boarding and exiting procedures. Beginning Tuesday, March 17, riders should board and exit the bus using the rear doors. Riders with mobility concerns may continue to use the front door to board and exit. Riders who need assistance - bus lowered, ramp put out – are directed to knock on the front door for assistance.
If you are able, please consider walking to your destination. Do your best to practice social distancing (maintain a six foot distance between yourself and others) as much as possible while on the bus. Riders are strongly encouraged to use the mobile app, Transit, for live tracking, departure predictions, and notifications.
CAMBUS has modified its cleaning procedures and processes in accordance with recommendations from the CDC, Federal Transit Administration, Iowa Department of Public Health, and UI Hospitals & Clinics. All surfaces from the bottom of the seat to the windows – including seats, walls, and windows – are sprayed with Virex II 256 each night. Virex II 256 is an EPA approved products that is effective against COVID-19. After spraying is complete, all hard surfaces are wiped with a clean towel or microfiber cloth.
The CDC also recommends every day preventative actions to help prevent spread of the virus and other germs, including washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer has also been provided at the WCTC lobby entrance so riders can use hand sanitizer after exiting and before boarding.
