Pentacrest route to provide service all day at stop WCTC beginning Aug. 24, 2020
August 20, 2020
The Pentacrest route beginning Monday, Aug. 24 will serve the West Campus Transportation Center (WCTC) stop all day instead of just during the evening. A service gap was identified in the adjustments made for Fall 2020 based upon rider feedback and adjusting the Pentacrest route allows this need to be met. The Night Pentacrest route is replacing the daytime Pentacrest route and the route name Night Pentacrest is being temporarily discontinued.
Pentacrest Route details beginning Aug. 24, 2020
Before 12 p.m., Pentacrest route serves Newton Road, then WCTC, then Finkbine/Arena, and back to Newton Road.
Between 12 p.m. - 7 p.m., Pentacrest route serves Newton Road, then Finkbine/Arena, then WCTC, and back to Newton Road.
After 7 p.m. , Pentacrest operates the existing Night Pentacrest service.
The Pentacrest route provides service between the Health Sciences campus and the Pentacrest - including Parking Lot 65 (Finkbine) and Parking Lot 75 (Arena). Historically, the Pentacrest route ended operations around 7 p.m. The Night Pentacrest route operated after 7 p.m. and included service at the WCTC operated. The current Pentacrest schedule includes enough time to make the adjustment and not increase trip time.
Riders feedback indicated a connection was needed at the WCTC in the early morning and through the day. Examples of rider needs this adjustment accommodates:
- Travel from the downtown area to the WCTC area before 8 a.m.
- A transit connection between Hancher/Newton Road to the south side of UI Hospitals & Clinics
- Riders who take the 380 Express bus from Cedar Rapids and work along Newton Road
Riders are encouraged to use the mobile app Transit to plan trips, get real-time departure information, live bus locations, service alerts and more. Download Transit to your Apple or Android smart device.
The Parking and Transportation Department is committed to promoting campus accessibility through mobility solutions for all students, staff, faculty, and visitors. In addition to fixed-route bus services, CAMBUS also operates a door-to-door paratransit bus service, called "Bionic Bus".
