CAMBUS General Information

It is our goal to continually improve the safety and quality of our service.  We appreciate your cooperation and feedback to assist us in reaching our goal.

The Students' Transit System

CAMBUS is a University of Iowa service conceived, supervised and operated by students. Serving students, faculty, staff and the general public, CAMBUS has developed into a vital service providing more than 4 million rides per year. CAMBUS is a vivid example of the superior abilities and dedication of UI students.

The Bionic Bus

CAMBUS also operates a specialized transportation service for students, faculty and staff with disabilities. It is a demand-response, curb-to-curb service provided with ramp-equipped mini-buses. Interested persons may contact the Dispatch & Bionic Supervisor to determine eligibility: (319) 335-7595. Additional para-transit services are provided by Johnson County SEATS: (319) 356-5210.

 Accessible Fixed Route Service

All CAMBUS vehicles and services are accessible to persons with disabilities. Buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts or ramps. If you wish to use the lift or ramp, please ask the driver to deploy it for you. Service animals and respirators are welcome on all vehicles.

No Fare

CAMBUS does not charge a fare to ride and its services are available to the general public. CAMBUS is a prepaid system funded in part by student fees. Students, faculty and staff may contribute additional money by checking "CAMBUS" on the optional fee cards which are distributed each year. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Time and Schedule

CAMBUS time is established by time.gov. Variations from your time piece or mobile device may occur. The drivers make every effort to safely operate on schedule, however, delays may occur due to unavoidable events or conditions including inclement weather, traffic, road construction, etc.

Bus Stops

All CAMBUS stops are marked by signs. Riders may board and exit only at these designated stops. This insures the safety and reliability of the service.

Which bus to take

The name of the bus route is displayed on the front and right side of each bus. For more service information check the Routes, Schedules & Maps pages, ebongo.org or call CAMBUS at (319) 335-8633.
