Members Present:              Armando Duarte, John Fuller, Kris Halter, Jessie Hinrichs, June Tai, Austin Wu, Kevin Zihlman

Staff/Others Present:         Hossain Mohiuddin, Jim Sayre, Jim Stoner and Carrie Brus       

Members/Staff Absent:     Eden Dewald, Ioannis Koutsonikolis, Brian McClatchey, Erin Shane and Debby Zumbach

Meeting minutes are approved as submitted

Student Housing Density

• Hossain will update on his findings thus far

• Look at high density areas in terms of population related to CAMBUS service

• Pulled together student addresses (if available)

• Overlay with current CAMBUS service

• Pulled data into GIS system

• Incorporate buffer of 0.25 miles

• Incorporate areas where there are roads/sidewalks that provide access to CAMBUS service

• Points out areas that are possibly underserved by transit

• Impact of new apartment buildings going up all over the area

    Campus Development Team

    • Presented long-term principles last time

    • Jim will meet with a group of students to brief them

    • Team has yet to review the principles/provide feedback

      Passport Update

      • Handout

      • Growing program

      • Ability to extend your meter time from your phone

      • No significant changes in enforcement or metered inventory

      • Experimenting with Passport-only metered spaces at Finkbine Commuter (cannot pay with coins)

      • Savings with staff time, vehicle time with collection

      • Additional locations are Theatre meters (half of those) and Myrtle Law; Passport only

        Bike Share

        • Selection process is still underway (City of Iowa City)

        • Evaluations have been scored

        • Make an award as soon as possible

        • Get bikes on campus as soon as possible

        • Traditional bicycles and assisted bicycles

        • Will have to think about electric scooters

          380 Express

          • Service began October 1

          • Ridership data to share; average of 90 pick-ups per day

          • Riders must pay to park their car except at Kirkwood Community College

          • Brand new buses with restrooms and wi-fi

          • Service Monday-Friday

          • Buses do not go to the Cedar Rapids Airport

            Iowa City/Coralville/CAMBUS Transit Route Study

            • Will seek a vendor to conduct that study

            • RFQ has been drafted by Iowa City with scope of work

            • RFQ seeks out the most qualified firm, hire them and find out cost

            • Presentation to City Council happens next week

            • Impact of a zero-fare route for Iowa City/Coralville

            • Goal is to increase ridership by 100% over the next 10 years

            • Specific items related to CAMBUS

            • Long-term maintenance and storage

            • Use of downtown Iowa City interchange

            • Review service to nearby neighborhoods

            • Review night and weekend service

            • Review ridership at specific stops at later times in the day; do those stops make sense?

            • Impact of class schedules on transit service

            PARCS update

            • Transition to 24/7 operations

            • Lot 11, Lot 13 and Family Care Center have all been transitioned to 24/7 operations

            • Target for all cashiered facilities to operate 24/7 is by January 1, 2019

            • Use of pay stations to accommodate no cashier on-site

            • Needed to convert validations to be automated

            • Have been meeting with customers/groups that use validations

            • Work through process to automate those validations

            • Plan is to have a roving ambassador that can help customers

            • Likely to always have cashiers on-site in the Hospital Ramps due to the customer base

            • Lot 1 and Departmental Business Placards impact how full the lots can be

            • Trying to build space in Lot 8 right now
