Fleet Services Coronavirus Information
Fleet Services has implemented several changes to decrease the spread of COVID-19. Service and operations will continue to be adjusted as information or circumstances change. Fleet Services processes reflect guidance from the CDC and the University of Iowa Critical Incident Management Team.

Customer Information and Policies
Each vehicle is thoroughly cleaned using a disinfectant effective against COVID-19 and general purpose cleaners. A fogger is used to spray disinfectant in the vehicle when it is returned with special attention on “high touch” surfaces/objects. Vehicles are also vacuumed, and the exterior of vehicles cleaned by vehicle washing machine.
During cleaning, staff wear appropriate PPE to protect themselves and prevent virus spread. This includes wearing face covering and gloves that are changed after each vehicle. Only one staff member will clean a vehicle to provide social distancing for our staff.
In Fleet Services office, surfaces are frequently cleaned. Vehicle keys and other materials will be disinfected before providing for customer use. Fleet Services staff will frequently wash hands and use hand sanitizer before interacting with customers.
A transparent shield has been installed at the customer service desk. Staff are required to wear a face covering when interacting with customers and not behind the shield.
Reservations, rentals, and vehicle pick-up
If traveling as a group, only one person should pick-up the vehicle. Each department and/or college will determine how many will occupy a vehicle they have rented.
Use the pedestrian ramp to enter Fleet Services. Only one customer can be in the Fleet Services building at a time. Customers should queue on the ramp and observe the tape markings on the handrail to ensure social distancing. Customer should exit using the stairs if able to use stairs.
