FY 16 Rates Are Published

The FY 16 rates for daily rental vehicles have been published on our web site.  View FY 16 Rates.  Rate letters for departments that lease vehicles have been mailed and should be received in a couple of days.  After you get your letter please choose either the basic rate or the rate with a loaner and return the letter to us along with the updated contact information form.  PLEASE return both forms to us by Friday, September 18, even if there are no changes.

The excess mileage rates for those customers who average over 1,250 miles (1,500 miles for mid-size sedans and SUVs) are as follows:  Compact Sedan:  $0.09; Mid-Size Sedan: $0.13; SUV:  $0.15; Minivan: $0.19; Cargo Van: $0.11.  All new rates are effective September 1, 2015.

Fuel Card Renewal

As you may have noticed the Wright Express fuel cards are expiring at the end of this month.  If you have one of these cards in your vehicle, you should stop by our office and exchange your old card for a new one.

Please note that these cards are not able to be used in the Iowa City/Coralville area.  If you have a piece of equipment that needs fuel that is not available at our fuel island, let us know when you pick up your new card and we will update the card so fuel can be purchased at local fuel stations.

On-Line Training

This is a reminder regarding the on-line training programs.  An email with registration information should be received by the trainee within 1 business day after we receive the requisition and participant form.

Minivan Stow and Go Seating

This year we have had two different vans where the headrest has been broken off as people try to stow the back seat.  If you run into difficulty operating any of our vehicles, please refer to the owner’s manual in the glove box.  If you still have questions, please feel free to give us a call or stop by and we will happily assist you.

Driver’s License Review System

This is the time of year that many new staff members, both student and full-time, are hired.  If your new staff members may possibly drive a University vehicle, make sure you get these new drivers registered in the University’s Driver’s License Review System.  This system is located in the Self-Service system on the Administrative tab, in the Systems box.  If you do not have access to this system, your departmental HR person will.

This is also a good time to review all of your drivers and make sure they are entered into this system as well.

Family and Friends Plan

Unfortunately your family and friends will need to make a new plan if you were planning on them accompanying you on a trip in a University vehicle.   Family and friends are not permitted to ride in a University vehicle unless they are in the vehicle for a University purpose.  Helping to drive or providing directions is not sufficient reason for them to accompany you on a trip.

Fleet Services Factoid

Cool website:  http://www.mycardoeswhat.org.   This website has information from vehicle researchers here at the University of Iowa and the National Safety Council that helps explain the new safety technologies.  Learn about stability control systems, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, adaptive headlights and many other features.  This is a valuable resource if you have these features or if you are shopping for them.
