FY 15 Rates Are Now Available
I have also sent out the annual letter listing the lease rate for each vehicle and asking you to verify the MFK that we will be charging in FY 15. Along with that letter is a form to updatethe contact information for each vehicle. Please review each form and return to us by Friday, July 18.
Not a Lease Renewal!
Many people believe that the rate letter, mentioned in the previous article is a “Lease Renewal”. It is not. Leases for vehicles that are permanently assigned to departments are for the life of the vehicle. The only time the lease is “renewed” is when the vehicle has reached the end of its useful life. At that time you can choose not to replace the vehicle and the lease is ended.
The letter that you have received is to verify the MFK and contact information for the new fiscal year. Please call ouroffice if you need more information.
There had been a problem with our Fleet Service Requisition when the form was cloned using the Firefox or Chrome browsers. This issue has been fixed.
Speaking of Cloning......
When you clone a requisition please make sure you update the pertinent information for the new reservation. We have had several instances recently when a form was cloned but the driver information was not updated for the new reservation. So the customer was delayed when they arrived to pick up the vehicle because his/her name was not on the requisition.
Wright Express App
Wright Express, our fuel card provider, has an app that you can install on your smart phone. I have this on my phone because it shows where to buy the cheapest fuel in town. It uses real time data from transactions using the Wright Express Card. You can also use the app to find fuel stations that provide services like tire changes and serpentine belt replacement. That is really handy in an area you are unfamiliar with. The name of the app is “WEX Connect”. You can find it at the Apple App Store or where ever they sell Android apps.
Do Not Fuel Your Vehicle While the Engine is Running
If you fuel your vehicle while the engine is running, that could set off a check engine light. Most fuel systems in modern cars have an evaporative emissions system to make sure the minimal emissions are released into the atmosphere. So, if you leave the engine running while the fuel cap is off, the computer thinks there is a big vapor leak and it trips the check engine light. If this happens to you, you can shut off the vehicle and then turn it back on. That may reset the light. Otherwise, you’ll need a technician to reset the light.
Good Bye to Jerry, Happy Retirement!!
Jerry Brumley one of our long-time technicians is retiring. Jerry was hired in September of 1990 and has been with us ever since. Earlier in his time here at Fleet Services Jerry used to race cars at Hawkeye Downs, in Tipton and West Liberty. Eventually Jerry decided that just working on race cars was enough for him. Jerry is also an avid outdoorsman and a motorcycle rider. We’ll miss Jerry’s booming voice and his willingness tackle any job. Jerry’s last day is July 1 and there is a retirement reception in the shop from 10am to noon. Our best wishes go out to Jerry, as well as a warning to all the fish and ducks!!
Illinois Cell Phone Reminder
