Lease Vehicle Rate Reduction!!
Hooray for Risk Management! They have decided to lower our monthly insurance premium by $7 per month per vehicle. So, we are passing this savings on to you. Therefore, the monthly rate on every vehicle leased from Fleet Services will be decreased by $7 starting with the October billing.
Are You Forgetful?
Occasionally, we have customers that forget to pick up a rental car they have reserved from us. The trip may have been canceled, or the reservation pick-up date may have changed and so the vehicle is not needed as scheduled. But no one notified Fleet Services and we still have the vehicle reserved. If the vehicle reservation is not canceled two hours or more from the scheduled pick-up time we will charge for one day.
To prevent those charges and to give yourself a handy reminder, click the box on the vehicle requisition that says, “I would like a reminder email sent to all contacts & drivers at noon the day prior to the reservation”. This email message will remind you that there is a reservation the next day and gives you plenty of time to cancel the reservation if you don’t need the vehicle.
As you can imagine, with over 500 vehicles, we see our share of accidents. Here are a couple of pointers to assist your staff if they are ever involved in an accident.
- Always call the police. They may choose not to fill out a report but you have covered yourself by calling them.
- The accident report needs to be filled out as soon as possible after the accident. It must be submitted to our office within 2 business days of the accident.
- Make sure the driver signs the accident report form as well as that person’s supervisor.
- Fill out all fields on the form.
- View Vehicle Accident Report
- The form is available on the Fleet Services website or the Risk Management website.
- Hitting stationary obstacles is one of our most common accidents. Please do a 360 degree inspection before moving the vehicle.
If you have a staff meeting or other gathering you would like someone from Fleet Services to attend please let us know. We can explain our policies, provide helpful hints and answer any questions your group may have. Call our office to make arrangements.
New Wisconsin Cell Phone Law
On October 1, a law became effective in Wisconsin regarding cell phone use. The new law prohibits the use of a cell phone in a construction, maintenance or utility zone unless the phone is being used with a hands-free device. View additional details regarding the new cell phone law in Wisconsin.
We’re Good, But We Could Get Better
Fleet Services is always trying to make our services better. If you have an idea or suggestion, please respond to the email that delivered this newsletter and let me know. Things we are always looking at are: options on vehicles, ways to make the Fleet Services Vehicle Requisition better and easier to use, ways to make servicing your vehicle easier and better, ways we could serve you more efficiently. Anything is on the table. I can’t promise we’ll implement your idea or suggestion, but I can promise you I will read your submission and you will get a response back from me.
Fleet Services Factoid
The key box that stores our spare keys was custom made by Facilities Management because we could not find a suitable key-box anywhere else. It is a beautiful piece of furniture.
