Do You Want To End the Lease on an Assigned Vehicle?

It may be possible to end the lease of your vehicle before the end of its life if we can transfer your vehicle to another customer.  To discuss this opportunity, Mike needs to hear from you ASAP.  He begins ordering new vehicles in November so he needs to make any lease changes before new vehicles are ordered.  If you wish to discuss your vehicle lease, please call Mike at (319) 384-0564.

Leaving a Vehicle for the Shop?

If you are leaving a vehicle for the shop, please do not park the vehicle inside the shop or on the driveway next to the shop.  There are parking spots for vehicles that need serviced west of the shop, next to the fence. If you are dropping a vehicle off, and there is no one available to speak with, please leave the vehicle keys in the basket next to the computer in the shop.  Also, make sure you fill out the Maintenance Drop Off Form explaining why the vehicle needs service and the contact person and phone number we should call when the repairs are completed.

Rental Fleet Punctuality

When making a rental vehicle requisition, please be as accurate as you can on the pick-up and return times.   That information is very important to us so we can schedule vehicles efficiently.  We will typically schedule a vehicle to go back out again 30 minutes after it has been returned.   So you can see why accurate times are important to us. If your plans change and you cannot pick up or return your vehicle on time, no problem, just let us know.  We can move things around so everyone gets a vehicle!!

Fall Driving Tips

With the Fall season upon us, there are changes all around that can affect our driving. Below are a few tips to keep you safe on the road this season.  Check out the full video on Fall Driving Safety Tips

  • Wet leaves can be as slippery as ice; make sure to slow down as you drive through them.
  • Leaves can also obscure lane lines. Pay attention and stay in your lane.
  • The first 15-45 minutes after sunrise and before sunset can make it difficult to see. Keep a pair of sunglasses on hand and keep your windshield clean to help see the road.
  • Keep a safe distance from the car in front of you when it’s raining.
  • When the temperatures drop, frost can leave icy patches on bridges and overpasses. Be sure to slow down.
  • Before leaving work, give your eyes time to adjust to the dark.
  • As the temperature gets lower at night, your tire pressure light may come on. If this happens, fill the tire up with our air hose and gauge, located at the southwest corner of the CAMBUS barn. If the light comes on again, call the shop so we can take a look at the tire.

Former Mobile Museum is looking for a new Home

As you may have heard, the vehicle that has served as the Mobile Museum will soon be looking for a new home.   The exterior wrap, interior displays and exhibits will be removed so the interior can be re-purposed to meet your needs.  The vehicle is based on a 2014, 38’ Winnebago mobile home.  It has around 52,000 miles.  Please call Mike at (319) 384-0564 and he can arrange an opportunity for you to look and the vehicle and talk about particulars with the appropriate staff.

New Faces in New Places

We have had some new faces join Fleet Services in the last couple of weeks and months.   Joe C. joined us in late June and is our go-to person for training, as well as supporting our customer service.  John H. joined us in late September as our Assistant Manager.  His primary duties will be coordinating our accident repairs and supervising the daily rental fleet staff.  Welcome aboard J&J!
