Following a review of service data, CAMBUS is announcing a schedule change for the Pentacrest Route during the peak evening commute. The Pentacrest Route, due to persistent downtown congestion between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., is frequently unable to maintain its posted schedule. The change allows service and departures to be more reliable for riders while maintaining at least three departures per hour. Changes are effective Monday, January 14, coinciding with the beginning of the Spring Academic Session.

The changes in scheduled departures between 3:45 p.m. and 5:46 p.m. are effective only during the academic sessions when downtown traffic is most impactful. A PM North Hospital Shuttle has been added from 4:00 p.m. to 5:22 p.m. during academic sessions to maintain service levels between commuter parking lots and the VA Loop area. There are no changes in scheduled departures prior to 3:45 p.m. or after 5:46 p.m. Complete details are available in the service alert and both the academic and interim/summer schedules are posted on the CAMBUS website: transportation.uiowa.edu/cambus/routes.

Re-designing the schedule based upon recent service data improves service for riders by offering more predictable departures and less disruption. Safety, service, and schedule continue to be the foundation for CAMBUS operations, and this change will allow operations to better serve riders.
