September 25, 2018
The East Central Iowa Council of Governments, in partnership with the Iowa DOT, announced the launch of a new intercity express bus service that will offer travel between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. The service is meant to offer an easy, safe, convenient, and stress free alternative for traveling the 380 corridor.
Fares for the service will be $3.50 to ride one-way. The route will run between the Ground Transportation Center in Cedar Rapids and downtown Iowa City's Court Street Transportation Center, with stops at Kirkwood Community College's Park-and-Ride Lot, the Coralville Intermodal Facility in Iowa River Landing and University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. The UIHC stop is at the corner of Hawkins and Evashevski Drive for AM routes, and at Hawkins Drive near the UI Center for Disabilities and Development for the PM routes.
Buses will travel the route at 30-minute intervals beginning at 5:20 a.m. in Cedar Rapids. The last bus will arrive back in Cedar Rapids at 8:40 p.m. Service during the middle of the day will operate with 1-hour intervals.
Persons with a disability, and seniors aged 60 and over will receive a discount fare of $1.75, and children ages six and under will ride free. Ten-ride passes are available for $32.50 and $16.25 for seniors/disabled. Unlimited ridership passes are available for $125 per month, or $62.50 for seniors/disabled.
The use of Token Transit, an app that allows users to purchase and carry passes with their phone, will eliminate the need for users to have exact change to buy a fare, and will make boarding the bus much quicker. For additional details of the service please visit www.380express.com.
