CAMBUS honors civil rights activist Rosa Parks during Black History Month

February 14, 2020

Public transportation systems across the United States are honoring civil rights activist Rosa Parks during the 2020 celebration of Black History Month. CAMBUS, like other systems in Iowa, has posted a sign on a seat near the front of the bus reserving a seat in honor of Rosa Parks.

CAMBUS is committed to creating a welcoming service and providing public transportation to all. The initiative is an opportunity for people to learn more about the Civil Rights Movement and about Rosa Parks. Riders are asked to not sit in this seat for the duration of February as a symbolic gesture to honor Mrs. Parks.

"The CAMBUS team celebrates diversity and inclusion in our workplace and in our community. We appreciate the positive comments and feedback we’ve gotten about this initiative," said Mia Brunelli, CAMBUS operations manager.
