CAMBUS service adjustments due to Gateway Project

November 17, 2016

During the 2016 fall semester University of Iowa Parking and Transportation has focused on monitoring CAMBUS routes traveling on Dubuque Street through the Gateway Project. Anticipating delays due to construction, a third Interdorm route was added and other adjustments were made. However, complications due to construction continue to be unpredictable causing delays and variability. Beginning Monday, November 28 we will introduce additional changes to the routes traveling through the Gateway Project construction.

Hawkeye Interdorm - improve service reliability

Although all routes traveling through the Gateway Project have experienced disruptions, the Hawkeye Interdorm route has seen the most significant impact. It has been determined to increase reliability of this route that it will no longer travel through the Gateway Project before 6:00 p.m. on weekdays. As a result the Hawkeye Interdorm route will not serve stops #1016 Burge, #1011 Church Street South, and #1000 Mayflower Hall until after 6:00 p.m. The Interdorm and Mayflower Shuttle routes will continue to serve stops #1016 Burge, #1011 Church Street South, and #1000 Mayflower Hall during the academic weekday as scheduled.

Persons needing to travel to Mayflower Hall will need to board a Mayflower Shuttle or Interdorm route. If traveling from the Hawkeye Campus to Mayflower, riders should board a Hawkeye Interdorm or Hawkeye Express route and make a connection with Mayflower Shuttle or Interdorm at stop #0120 Macbride Hall.

Persons needing to travel to the Hawkeye Campus from Mayflower Hall should board a Mayflower Shuttle or Interdorm route and make a connection with Hawkeye Interdorm or Hawkeye Express at stop #0001 Schaeffer Hall.

Mayflower Shuttle - increase number of departures during peak times

Departure times will be slightly adjusted and an additional bus has been added to serve peak morning times. Weekday departures from Mayflower Hall every 20 minutes from 6:55 a.m. – 8:05 a.m., every 10 minutes from 8:05 a.m. – 9:25 a.m., and every 20 minutes from 9:25 a.m. – 5:45 p.m.

Interdorm - expand service hours

Interdorm departures increased and service beginning earlier. Weekday departures from Mayflower Hall every 30 minutes from 6:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m., every 10 minutes from 8:20 a.m. – 5:50 p.m., and every 30 minutes from 5:50 p.m. – 10:20 p.m.

Routes traveling through the Gateway Project will continue to be closely monitored. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work to improve service. If you have questions please contact CAMBUS via email at cambus-transit@uiowa.edu or call (319) 335-8633.
