IMU Office customer service moving to West Campus Transportation Center, IMU Office to close December 23, 2019.
December 4, 2019
All customer service support for Parking and Transportation is moving to the West Campus Transportation Center (WCTC) location. The IMU Parking Office will be permanently closed beginning Monday, December 23. The last day of operations at this location will be Friday, December 20. Over the past few years, Parking Services has implemented technology that allows students, faculty, and staff to order permits or bus passes and pay for fees online. Increased use of online transactions has reduced the need for two office locations.
Following an evaluation of office activity and resources needed to maintain the office – combined with the increased technology offerings – the decision was made to move all customer service to the West Campus Transportation Center. In our evaluation of 2018 and 2019 transactions, the data showed that less than 4% of financial transactions occurred at the IMU Parking Office and a significant decrease in customer traffic outside academic peak times.
Thanks to improved technology, the department can now issue permits at remote locations. In the future, the department will work with campus partners to offer pop-up style help stations as needed, like during summer orientation or fall move in. Follow Parking and Transportation on Twitter (@uiowaparktrans) and check your university email for notices about pop-up office locations and times on the East Campus.
West Campus Transportation Center was designed to provide all of the parking and transportation amenities customers need. Most of our units are located at the WCTC. In addition to increased customer amenities and centralized services, the location is easily accessible by bus. Customers can take the CAMBUS Red Route or Blue Route, running every 12 minutes, and get off at stop #2000 WCTC. Trip planning to the WCTC is made easy thanks to a new application, Transit. Learn more about the app at transportation.uiowa.edu/transit.
There are also loading-zone meters immediately next to WCTC that allow customers to park for free for up to 30 minutes while visiting the office. The office is located on the second floor of the WCTC. Take the stairs, escalator, elevator, or skyway to the office entrance.
