CAMBUS Information for Incoming Students
CAMBUS is a no‐fee service that the University of Iowa provides to students, faculty, and staff of the University as well as members of the Iowa City community. To use the bus, no ID is needed –just hop on!
To allow the service to run more smoothly and for everyone’s safety, always enter the bus at the front door and exit out of the rear doors! Board quickly, and when the bus begins to get crowded, do your best to move towards the back of the bus to let other passengers board.
When you are a pedestrian walking through traffic, never walk out in front of a bus!! Stick to the crosswalks, and make sure you are paying attention to where you are going, instead of letting your cell phone or headphones distract you and possibly causing a traffic accident.
To figure out which bus you need to take, check the Bongo website, download the eBONGO app on your smartphone, or check the CAMBUS website. It’s also a good idea to “like” UICambus on Facebook or “follow” UICambus on Twitter for important service updates and announcements.
Your first week of school, or as you’re moving in, jump on a couple of routes that go around campus to see where they go and to get a feel for campus. Never hesitate to ask a driver for help!
Finally, CAMBUS is a great place for students to work!! First‐year students are typically hired in their second semester, pending their driving record and availability. For more information, check out the CAMBUS website.
