Disruptions due to the pandemic and Iowa DOT appointment wait times have caused on-going staffing shortages at CAMBUS. Newly hired CAMBUS student are eligible for a $1,000 hiring incentive bonus after meeting milestones in the hiring process. As of August 21, 2022, the starting wage has increased to $17.50/hour with raises every 6 months.

On June 26, CAMBUS drivers competed in a “bus roadeo” - an obstacle course for buses. CAMBUS will be providing additional shuttle services for select home wrestling meets. Pre-meet shuttles begin operating 90 minutes prior to the meet start time and conclude at the meet start time. Post-meet shuttles begin at the conclusion of the last match and operate for about 30 minutes after meet end.

Parking and Transportation improves parking system with LPR technology

University of Iowa Parking and Transportation has implemented a license plate recognition (LPR) system that allows a vehicle license plate to also be used as the university parking permit. Beginning Aug. 1, most faculty, staff, and student permit holders will not need to display a physical permit in their vehicles. LPR increases parking efficiency, provides convenience for permit holders, and greatly reduces the amount of paper and plastic waste produced.
