Are you a University of Iowa employee visiting the UI Hospitals and Clinics as a patient or guest?
If yes, you may recall that Hospital Parking Ramps 1, 2, and 4 are reserved for patients and visitors Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. However to assure your privacy, the technology used to monitor patient parking facilities is unable to verify in real-time if employees have an appointment.
Sometimes employees who are using the facilities as a patient or a patient visitor may receive a citation for violating this parking policy. For the inconvenience we apologize, but we offer quick and easy options to avoid receiving or to cancel a parking citation.
Avoid a Parking Ramp Citation
A Patient Parking Pass can be printed from MyChart. Simply display the printed sheet on the dashboard of your vehicle on the date of your healthcare visit and a parking ramp citation will not be issued to the vehicle.
Reminder: The Patient Parking Pass provides free parking for patients. If you are parking while attending your healthcare appointment, do no use your parking access card. Instead, take a cashiers ticket when entering the parking facility. The Patient Parking Pass works in combination with the cashiers ticket. If you do not print your Patient Parking Pass prior to your healthcare visit, a pass will be provided by your clinic.

- Hover over the Visits tab
- Select Appointments, Visits, Admissions
- Click on the link at the top of the page "Patient Parking Pass"
A pass is generated for currently admitted patients or for an appointment occurring in the next seven days.
- Print the pass
- Place it on the driver's side of your vehicle's dashboard during your visit
Forgot to print a Patient Parking Pass?
If you receive a parking ramp citation, don't worry. A green cancellation form is provided with any parking citation issued for "employee in patient ramp". Simply complete this form legibly and hand to the cashier when exiting.
