Parking Citation Appeals
If you feel that your parking citation was issued contrary to the University of Iowa Parking Regulations or was simply issued in error, you may appeal your parking citation online at the above link. Please keep in mind that parking citations will not show in the system until the next business day. If you need help completing the online appeal please visit a Parking and Transportation Department office at the West Campus Transportation Center or the IMU Parking Ramp.
Appeals must be submitted within ten days of the issuance of the notice or the sanction will be placed on the registered owner, or parking permit holders, University bill. Such appeals must be state succinctly, but fully, the grounds on which the appeal is based. Appeals should be filed by completing the online process at parking.uiowa.edu. A case may be dismissed, upheld, upheld with sanction suspended, or modified.
Persons may also choose to submit a written appeal in the form of a letter mailed to Parking and Transportation. Please include your contact information, the citation number you wish to appeal, and the grounds on which your appeal is based.
Faculty and Staff parking citation appeals are heard by the Faculty/Staff Parking Appeals Committee. The committee is comprised of faculty and staff that are appointed by either the UI Faculty Senate or UI Staff Council. Faculty or staff are welcome to appear in front of the Faculty/Staff Parking Appeals Committee to present their case. Student parking citation appeals are heard by the Student Judicial Court .The Student Judicial Court (SJC) is a joint committee between the University of Iowa Student Government (UISG) and the Executive Council of Graduate and Professional Students (ECGPS). Students are welcome to appear in front of the Student Parking Appeals Committee to present their case. Appeals submitted by the general public will be heard administratively by the Parking and Transportation Department.
