Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning

During a National Weather Service-issued Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning for Johnson County, CAMBUS will suspend service immediately. Riders should not remain on buses or wait at CAMBUS stops; riders should seek shelter in a nearby building immediately. CAMBUS will resume service after the warning has expired or once it has been determined that the Iowa City and Coralville areas are no longer under direct threat of the severe weather and/or tornado.

Flash Flooding

Streets may become impassable for buses during flash flooding. CAMBUS may need to modify routes to avoid flooded roadways. Areas that are susceptible to flash flooding include: Newton Road near the VA Hospital, Iowa Avenue between Riverside and Madison and North Riverside Drive near River Street.

Ice and Snow Events

CAMBUS will continue to run during ice and snow events, however significant delays are to be expected. If ice and/or snow events are so severe that University classes and other operations are closed, CAMBUS may reduce or suspend service. For additional information, please refer to the CAMBUS snow detours page.
