Program details
CAMBUS has implemented a new hiring incentive program in an effort to increase the number of student drivers and encourage them to quickly move through the multi-step hiring process. As of Dec. 20, 2021, all newly hired CAMBUS student staff will receive a total of $400 in two $200 installments after meeting two milestones in the hiring process.
CAMBUS is also providing a retention incentive payment of $100 to current student staff. The hiring and retention incentives are part of a University of Iowa pilot program to improve recruitment and retention of student employees who provide essential services to campus.
“If you have ever considered working for CAMBUS, now is the time to apply,” says Mia Brunelli, CAMBUS operations manager. “We offer competitive pay and flexible scheduling that can accommodate your classes and other academic priorities.”

New employees will receive the first $200 incentive payment upon completing all pre-employment steps (including obtaining a CDL permit), attending orientation, and completing their first training session.
Milestone 2: Pass the CAMBUS training program
New employees will receive the second $200 incentive after completing driving training and passing the final CAMBUS driving skills exam.
Licensing
As part of the training program, all CAMBUS student employees obtain their Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement and with the airbrakes restriction removed.
