Chrysler Pacifica ParkSense System

All of our Chrysler Pacifica minivans are equipped with a feature they call “ParkSense.” The system provides visual and audible indications of the distance between the rear of the vehicle and any detectable obstacles when in reverse. Brakes may be automatically applied and released if the system detects a possible collision. We wanted to send out another reminder, this system should not ever be turned off. This is an essential safety feature of the vehicle that has and will prevent collisions with poles, walls, people, etc.

Rental Fleet Punctuality

When making a rental vehicle requisition, please be as accurate as you can on the pick-up and return times. That information is very important to us so we can schedule vehicles efficiently. We will typically schedule a vehicle to go back out again 30 minutes after it has been returned. So you can see why accurate times are important to us. If your plans change and you cannot pick up or return your vehicle on time, no problem, just let us know. We can move things around so everyone gets a vehicle!! You can update the accuracy of your pick-up and return times on the requisition up to 24 hours in advance.

Are You Forgetful?

Occasionally, we have customers that forget to pick up a rental car they have reserved from us. The trip may have been cancelled, or the reservation pick-up date may have changed and so the vehicle is not needed as scheduled. But no one notified Fleet Services and we still have the vehicle held. If the vehicle reservation is not cancelled two hours or more from the scheduled pick-up time we will charge for one day. To prevent those charges and to give yourself a handy reminder, click the box on the vehicle requisition that says, “Opt to receive notification emails.” By opting in, an automated reminder will be sent to all contacts & drivers at noon the day prior to the reservation’s scheduled pick-up. This email message will remind you that there is a reservation the next day and gives you plenty of time to cancel the reservation if you don’t need the vehicle or update the details if plans have shifted.

Tire Light? Air Hose at CMF

With temps starting to drop overnight we are approaching low tire light season. If the tire pressure light is on, add a little air and drive a few miles, that should reset the light.  There is an air hose with a built-in pressure gauge available for customers to use near the fuel island at the SW corner of the CAMBUS barn (CMF). If the light comes on again in a couple of days, give the shop a call and schedule an appointment so we can check for a slow leak. Remember, the recommended tire PSI for a vehicle is on a sticker inside the driver’s door or in the owner’s manual not on the tire. The pressure printed on the side of the tire is range for that tire not a specific value for your vehicle.

Deer, Deer, Everywhere!

It is that time of year and the deer are running amok out there. Be sure to pay extra attention while driving and be prepared to slam on your brakes, especially if you are travelling around dawn or dusk. Make a point to maintain a safe following distance and be aware of your surroundings.  Use high beams If there is no oncoming traffic to improve visibility. Be aware of areas where deer are known to cross roads and treat them with extra caution.

Fleet Factoid

One of the best and little known things about road signage on Interstate highways is that the positioning of the Exit Number sign over the Route sign is an indication of whether the exit location is to the right, left, or straight. About one or two miles before an exit, a large Exit sign will be mounted overhead to indicate what town and/or route number will be at the next exit. An exit sign mounted on the left side of the Route sign means you will exit on the left side of the road, if it is mounted on the right side of the Route sign the exit is on the right. An Exit mounted and centered on the Route sign means stay in that lane. Take a look at the article from About RVing with interesting information about all types of road signs.
