The new Hawkeye Parking Ramp is nearly complete and will open for hourly use the week of March 24. The facility, located north of Kinnick Stadium and connected by sky walk to University of Iowa Health Care, is the latest addition to west side parking, adding 983 spaces. Hawkeye Parking Ramp was completed on schedule in anticipation of Parking Ramp 1 being torn down this fall to make way for the new UI Health Care patient care tower.

“We are extremely thankful to all the employees who were reassigned to other parking locations to make this project happen,” says Debby Zumbach, associate vice president and director of business services and parking and transportation. “Building this ramp on schedule was only possible with their patience, and we are excited to open the ramp so we can offer more parking for employees on the health care campus.”

Some finishing work will continue over the next several weeks including landscaping and installing additional signage and a bike parking cage. Parking spaces on the north and south sides may be periodically closed as work on the exterior continues. More details about how employees may access the new bike cage will be available soon.
