CAMBUS routes will detour away from several downtown roads beginning June 1 due to multiple construction projects and the Iowa City Arts Festival. 

Construction-related dates are subject to change. Riders are encouraged to use the Transit mobile app for the most up-to-date detour information.

Detour phases

Below are the expected detour phases. More details about how each route is impacted throughout the phases can be found on this page.

Note that detours are continuous throughout June. The table below only reflects weekday impacts since there is no fixed-route service on weekends during the summer.

Phase B detour information

Anticipated June 8-12

Detour information

The Phase B detour will be in place during the closures of:

  • Washington Street, between Madison Street and Capitol Street
  • Eastbound intersection of Iowa Avenue and Madison Street

The dates of the detour are subject to the construction progress at Iowa Avenue. Once the Iowa Avenue intersection is reopened, routes will resume the Phase A detour.
