The University of Iowa will hold spring 2023 Commencement ceremonies beginning Thursday, May 11. Traffic near Carver-Hawkeye Arena and Hancher Auditorium is expected to be busy at times. Please allow extra time when traveling.

Carver-Hawkeye Arena Parking

On Friday, parking near Carver-Hawkeye Arena will be limited. We highly encourage you to consider taking public transportation from either Iowa City or Coralville or a free University of Iowa Cambus to the event.

The parking lots where you might find a space on a first-come first-served basis within walking distance (0.5 miles) are Lot 75 (Arena), Lot 65 (Finkbine), and Lot 43 (Kinnick). Please see map for details. There are also nearby public parking facilities available at an hourly rate including the Newton Road Parking Ramp and Hospital Ramp 3.

Carver-Hawkeye Arena ADA parking

For the Friday morning ceremony, guests with ADA state-issued placards should use the northeast corner of Lot 75 or other designated areas near Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

On Friday evening through the weekend, guests with ADA placards should use Lot 46. Accessible parking in Lot 46 is limited to a first-come first-served basis. Once full, drop-offs will be allowed and then drivers will be directed to overflow accessible parking in Lot 40.

Hancher Auditorium parking

Parking in the Hancher Auditorium lot (Lot 55) will be open to commencement guests. We highly encourage you to consider taking public transportation from either Iowa City or Coralville or a free University of Iowa Cambus to the event.
