Motorist Assistance Program

Motorist Assistance Program

Can’t find your vehicle? Is your battery dead? We can help!

The Parking and Transportation Department offers free battery jump starts and will help you find your vehicle, if you’re parked on campus. This service is available to students, faculty, staff, and visitors on the main campus.

The motorist assistance program is offered year-round, on an as available basis, during the following times: Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. through 7:00 p.m. It is not available on University holidays.

If you would like to request this service please call (319) 335-8312. The dispatcher answering the phone will ask for details and your contact information and will then provide an estimated time that our staff will arrive. If you’re requesting a jump start we ask that you wait at your vehicle with the hood raised in order to help our staff more easily locate your vehicle.

University employees driving a University vehicle should continue to call our Fleet Services office for assistance during their normal business hours. That office can be reached at (319) 335-5102 or (319) 335-5105. For after-hours motorist assistance please use the motorist assistance card located in the glove box of the vehicle.

The Parking and Transportation Department will not provide any mechanical assistance or advice if your vehicle will not start after attempting to jump start the battery. If jump starting your battery does not work, we suggest that you seek assistance from a mechanic.
