Secure bicycle parking permits are now available for purchase at Slater Hall/HSAB. The new bike lockers offer secure storage to students living in nearby residence halls in addition to university employees.
“This is the first location to offer secure bicycle parking for undergraduates, and we hope they help bring new students peace of mind when bringing their bikes to campus,” says Michelle Ribble, commuter programs manager.
Undergraduate students living at Slater, Rienow, or Hillcrest Halls may qualify for a secure locker permit at Slater Hall/HSAB. Lockers are also available to UI faculty and staff with a valid HawkID. Space is limited, and permits are issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
How to join a waitlist
Secure bicycle parking is assigned from waitlists in the online Parking Portal. UI faculty and staff employed 50% of the time or more in a permanent position can log into the portal and add their name to a waitlist. UI graduate students may also add their name to waitlists and be assigned a secure bicycle space based on availability.
Before using secure bicycle parking spaces, users must register their bike with Bike Index.
