Permit Details
The Research Park Student Storage permit provides no-cost parking at the East Lot that is approximately five miles north of the Pentacrest on the UI Research Park Campus. You must be residing in a university residence hall to qualify for this permit. The permit is $0/semester. Permits are sold on a first come, first serve basis and may sell out.
Bus service to East Lot is available but limited, and you may need to instead take a taxi, Uber, or Lyft. See the 34 Research Park route page for details and download the Transit App to help plan trips.
How to order your virtual permit
Log into the Parking Portal, and if there are permits available you can select the Student Research Park Permit. Permits are valid starting every year on Aug. 16 through May 15 of the following year. Permits will renew on Jan. 1 for the Spring Semester unless cancelled beforehand.
Make sure all vehicle information is entered accurately as your license plate will be your permit. Failure to accurately provide your vehicle information will result in a citation.
How to cancel your permit
If you decide you do not want this permit, please complete the cancel form online so others may purchase a permit for this parking lot.
