Students looking for a ride back home can connect with carpools on UI Rideshare. Taking a staycation? Navigate campus on weeknights using the CAMBUS on-demand shuttle, or take in some fresh daytime air by bike.

Read more below about 3 helpful spring break transportation resources for students.

1. UI Rideshare

For travel off-campus, the newly revived UI Rideshare system can help connect you with a fellow student going in the same direction.

University students, faculty, and staff can download the UI Rideshare app and create an account. The system will verify your status at the university and then pair your profile with the applicable matching pool – student, or faulty and staff. You can find carpool matches, bus routes, and recommended cycling or walking routes.

Users can download the app for iPhone and Android devices or can access the service on the website https://uiowa.rideshark.com. The more people that join UI Rideshare, the higher the probability you will have a match.

2. CAMBUS Now

During academic breaks, weeknight CAMBUS service from 8:45 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. is available via the CAMBUS on-demand shuttle. On-Demand services provide rides within limited service areas to and from existing CAMBUS stops. Riders can request rides via the CAMBUS Now app or by calling the dispatcher to schedule in advance or for the next available ride.

Download the CAMBUS Now app and try scheduling a late night ride over the break.

3. Bike Index

The University of Iowa is partnered with Bike Index, a national registry of bicycles.

Registered bikes can quickly be returned to their owners if they are recovered after being lost or stolen. The registry is also a database that authorities can access to help identify and return bicycles to their owners.

In addition to assisting with bicycle recovery, the service offers features to bike owners such as uploading photos of their bicycle to their account or marking it as lost or stolen. Creating an account and registering a bicycle is quick and easy. The registration decal is mailed to bicycle owners after account creation.
