Parking and Transportation supports bicycling by offering amenities across the campus including bike repair stations, bicycle parking, and no cost registrations. The University of Iowa encourages bicycling as a healthy and viable form of transportation. Over the years, university organizations have come together to host bike check up events on campus. These events are also great opportunities to meet more cyclists and find partners for commuting to work by bicycle.

Per the University of Iowa Environmental Coalition:

"University of Iowa Environmental Coalition and Bike Friends have partnered together to create the 2019 Earth Month Bike Challenge. Biking provides an eco-friendly form of transportation, along with a lot of fun. The Earth Month Bike Challenge during the month of April is intended to encourage biking as a form of commuting and source of fun in the increasingly delightful weather.

Submit your trips and miles each week for a chance to win prizes. In addition, take pictures of your biking fun and post to social media. At the end of the challenge, prizes will be awarded to the overall winners, the best photo submissions, the most encouraging rider, and random prizes are given out. Learn more and register for the challenge by visiting the Earth Month Challenge website: sites.google.com/view/earthmonthbikechallenge2019
