University of Iowa’s CAMBUS announces Estephanie Coreas was selected as Cambus Driver of the Year, 2019. Transit service providers across Iowa annually each nominate an employee to be honored by the Iowa Public Transit Assocation (IPTA) for their commitment to providing safe and friendly service. Cambus supervisors selected Coreas from a pool of 15 drivers with the best work records over the past year. The selection team noted “Estephanie has exemplary work performance: friendly and outstanding work as a Bionic Bus driver and always willing to help Cambus out”.
Coreas graduated from the University of Iowa spring 2019, majoring in Health and Human Physiology. Reflecting on her time at Iowa Coreas said, “Cambus improved my experience at The University of Iowa. I didn't join any clubs, but Cambus was a huge part of my college experience. I am glad I was part of this amazing student organization.”
Certified as a Bionic Bus driver, Coreas has been employed with CAMBUS for just over 2.5 years. Bionic Bus is Cambus’s paratransit service for students, faculty, and staff with temporary or permanent disabilities. Bionic Bus offers demand-response, curb-to-curb service to serve the needs of university persons within most areas of Iowa City and Coralville. “I was very surprised to be selected as CAMBUS Driver of the Year,” said Coreas.
Coreas received the award on Friday, June 28 at the IPTA Training Conference and Annual Meeting. Details about the award can be found online at www.iapublictransit.com.
