UI CAMBUS will be temporarily reducing frequency on some routes beginning Monday, Aug. 30 in response to a driver staff shortage. Service will be maintained everywhere on campus, however riders may need to plan to take an earlier bus due to less frequent buses on some routes. Routes that will have reduced frequency beginning Aug. 30: 31 Red Route and 32 Blue Route, 35A Interdorm-WCTC, 41 Hawk Lot-Hospital, 51 Hospital-Finkbine/Arena, and 52 Finkbine-Pentacrest.

Service reductions will be in place until more staff can be hired and trained.

Service reduction details

The service reduction will cut about 140 service-hours temporarily until staffing numbers sufficiently improve. CAMBUS does not anticipate capacity issues with the reduced frequency on some routes. The service reductions are designed to be convenience reductions so that service is maintained everywhere on campus. Riders may need to plan to take an earlier bus to their destination.

Additionally, CAMBUS will be reducing the frequency of exterior bus washing to reallocate that shift to a driving shift. This will not change the frequency of how often buses are disinfected.

Plan to add service

As CAMBUS staffing levels improve, routes that are temporarily reduced will be increased again. Priority for increasing service will be given to high-demand and high-capacity routes. Ridership data will be evaluated in September to determine routes prioritized for increased service.
