New Wright Express Fuel Credit Cards Coming Soon

You may have noticed that the expiration date on your Wright Express fuel card is at the end of May. We will be receiving the new cards soon and will need to replace the old cards. We will notify you when the new cards arrive, and we are ready to start exchanging them. Don’t forget that you will also need to swap out any non-vehicle WEX cards that your department may use to fuel other equipment. 

Do You Need a Temporarily Assigned Vehicle for Summer?

If your program needs a vehicle for summer, please let us know ASAP so we can try to help you. Vehicles are in short supply this year and the more notice we have the more likely we are to be able to help you.

Spring Cleaning

Now would be a good time for you to do a little spring cleaning on your vehicle. Remember, we have free cleaning supplies and a vacuum cleaner available for your use. They are located by our office. We also have car wash passes to be used at the Billion Honda car wash off of Mormon Trek. Each vehicle can get one wash pass per month, additional washes during that month are $5.00.

Just a reminder, when cleaning the infotainment touch screen, you want to use a microfiber cloth. Check the glove box, new vehicles often include a cloth to use for this very purpose. If the dry cloth is not enough to do the job use water, do not use any sort of glass cleaner or other solution. 

Connected Cars and Data, What Are you Opting Into?

Most new vehicles offer internet connected services that provide additional features like in-car apps, remote functions, and Wi-Fi hot spots. By opting into these “connected” services you may also have opted into your driving data being collected by automakers, and potentially shared with insurance companies. A recent New York Times article explained the extent to which driver data is tracked and collected and how it can affect insurance rates.

The story explains how automakers such as General Motors share customers' driving behavior with data-collection companies such as LexisNexis, which then sells that information to auto insurance companies. The lesson here is to always read the fine print and pay attention to what you are agreeing to. 

Anyone who wants to know if their driving habits are being tracked and shared should review the privacy terms of any connected car services they're enrolled in. You can also request a consumer disclosure report through LexisNexis. They are required to disclose the information they have on you because of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Check out the full article from Car and Driver.
