University of Iowa Parking and Transportation has promoted Mia Brunelli to the position of Cambus manager, effective Nov. 1, 2024. Brunelli’s promotion follows the announcement that Brian McClatchey, Cambus manager, plans to retire January 2025.
"Mia has demonstrated outstanding leadership and dedication, making her an excellent fit for this role," says Debby Zumbach, associate vice president and director of parking and transportation.
In her new capacity, Brunelli will be responsible for overseeing all Cambus activities in service of the university including its operations, funding, and strategic planning. Building upon her student experience at Cambus, Brunelli joined our team in 2018 as operation supervisor and has since been promoted to operations manager. She has been a strong advocate for student employees and innovative solutions that have advanced our transit system.
A few notable accomplishments include:
- Overseeing the implementation of new technologies, including rider mobile apps, paratransit scheduling software, and passenger counting systems
- Implementing innovative staffing and service solutions to address challenges, including on-demand shuttle services
- Creating and implementing the Cambus entry level driver training program, and certifying the agency as a third party CDL testing partner with the Iowa DOT
- Leading a successful grant application for the Cambus Maintenance Facility modernization and expansion
