Permit details

Any registered student may purchase a motorcycle permit for their motorcycle/scooter. The parking permit price can be found on our rates page and the permit can be cancelled at any time for a prorated refund.

How to order your permit

Log into the Parking Portal, then the Student Motorcycle permit will be your option. 

Make sure all vehicle information is entered accurately. If you do not have your permanent license plate number yet you will need to use the last 5 digits of the VIN for the plate number then update it through the Parking Portal when it arrives.

You will need to retrieve a motorcycle sticker from Parking Services to utilize this permit. 

Displaying your permit

 The parking permit sticker must be clearly displayed to be valid. The permit sticker must be easily visible when the motorcycle, moped, or scooter is viewed from the rear. Peel off the paper from the permit sticker. Then affix firmly and completed to a clean surface. Do not affix to the license plate. 

How to cancel your permit

To cancel a motorcycle permit you will need to return the physical pass. You can either drop it off at the West Campus Transportation Center or mail it back to 840 Evashevski Drive, Iowa City, IA 52242. 

You will be charged for the permit until it is cancelled or expires.  You will receive a refund if cancelled before the end of the semester as we prorate by half month. If you fail to cancel your permit you are responsible for the time the permit was active. Your refund will be based on the date the permit is returned to our office.
