Parking and Transportation offers a discounted option for hospital visitors parking in the hospital parking ramps. A visitor parking pass booklet was implemented to ease the financial concerns related to extended visitor parking.
Each booklet contains 5 visitor passes and costs $30. Each pass is valid for one pre-paid exit when visiting a UI Hospitals & Clinics patient.
Yes, purchase a booklet:
Parked for more than one day or overnight
Ex: staying overnight with a loved one in the hospital
Consider purchasing a booklet:
Parked for more than 5 hours over 3+ visits
Ex: spending the day with a loved one in the hospital
The cost of a booklet may be lower than the ramp rates
No booklet needed:
Less than 5 hours parked
Ex: accompanying a patient to an appointment
Frequently exiting/ returning on a single day
Where can I use my passes?
Visitor passes are valid at Hospital Parking Ramps 1, 2, 3, and 4 (see map below). Rates are charged 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except University Holidays.
Note: Visitor parking pass booklet is not valid for Family Care Center Parking Lot (entrance on Melrose Avenue, beneath Hospital Parking Ramp 4).
How to purchase
Booklets are available for purchase at three convenient hospital locations:
- UI Hospitals & Clinics Main Information Desk
- Pomerantz Family Pavilion Information Desk
- UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital Information Desk
When purchasing, please provide the patient's name.
Visitor pass booklets are not required to be used consecutively, meaning these five passes could be used over a wider time period if needed. Booklets are not available for refunds or redeemable for cash value in any way.
How to use
Procedures for entering/exiting the ramps are detailed on the Pay-In-Lane page. When exiting, be sure that you provide both your transaction ticket and your visitor pass to the pay in-lane pay station. Each pass has a one-time use QR code that is scanned and allows you to exit for no fee.
Parking costs vary depending on when you enter a ramp and how long you park. More information can be found on the Rates page. The visitor pass makes the parking session free at the exit.
