Starting Monday, Aug. 18, patient parking ambassadors will begin to help ensure parking is available for patients and their families in Parking Ramp 2.

On weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., patient parking ambassadors will monitor ramp use and direct drivers to appropriate parking locations. Patient parking ambassadors can also assist with basic wayfinding or questions and can help connect patients with other resources.

An ambassador may ask drivers to confirm their appointment or if they are accompanying or visiting a patient before entering.

“Although it may take a little more time, we hope it will improve the parking experience for patients by ensuring they can easily find parking,” says Debby Zumbach, associate vice president and director of business services and parking and transportation.

Parking on UI Health Care’s university campus

Parking Ramps 1, 2, and 4 are reserved for patients and their visitors from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. On weeknights and weekends, Parking Ramps 1, 2, and 4 are open to the public, including UI faculty and staff.

The Hawkeye Parking Ramp, Parking Ramp 3, Newton Road Ramp, and Field House Lot are available for short-term, flexible parking for faculty, staff, students, and non-patient visitors, including vendors and contractors. Employees who park on the university campus while at work are encouraged to purchase a parking permit and park in their designated area.
