In addition to the main campus in Iowa City, there are some university campus sites that require a university parking permit. Transportation may be available by UI CAMBUS or city transit services. Learn more about the university campus sites on this page.
Reciprocity
Because university employees may need to work at more than one campus, daytime parking permits are also valid at additional specific campus parking lots. The term for this parking allowance is reciprocity. Permit reciprocity details
Public parking facilities can also be used to visit main campus (not including patient parking ramps), but normal parking rates will apply.
Health Care Support Services Building (HSSB)
Parking is available for employees and visitors at the HSSB location. To ensure parking is available during primary business hours, a parking permit to park in Parking Lot 221, HSSB on weekdays 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Click on the 221-HSSB for more details.

Portions of the lot are dedicated to ADA, visitor, public and loading zone parking. Users should look for signage throughout the parking lot to understand the limits of employee parking.

License plates are used as virtual parking permits at the Universit of Iowa. Specific rate and other permit information can be found on the employee and student parking pages.
Motorcycles can park in vehicle stalls at this time, but the license plate and permit must be facing the drive lane.
Public/visitor parking
Public parking spaces will be signed with ParkMobile zone signs and will require payment via ParkMobile, the campus mobile parking payment option.
Iowa River Landing
Parking and Transportation and the City of Coralville work together to allow university permits at the IRL West and Intermodal Facility Ramps. Employees assigned to work at IRL or IRL East are eligible for an IRL West or Intermodal Ramp permit.
The City of Coralville also honors most university main campus employee and student parking permits, except for NW permits, in the IRL West Ramp. Employees are assigned to park in the upper levels of the IRL West Ramp, leaving the lower floors for patient and public parking.

Employees and students who do not maintain a campus permit can park in the hourly parking facilities at IRL and pay the applicable daily rate.
Intermodal Facility Ramp - temporarily sold out
For employees who purchase an Intermodal Facility Ramp permit, a separate Coralville parking access card is required to enter/exit gates at this facility.

CAMBUS On-Demand Shuttle Service
The Research Park/MCNL on-demand service begins operating on April 28, 2025.
The Research Park/MCNL On-Demand Shuttle provides a connection between the Health Sciences Campus on Newton Road and health care facilities on the Research Park campus, including Medical Center North Liberty (MCNL) and Hospital Shared Services Building (HSSB).
UI Research Park
Some parking at the UI Research Park/Oakdale Campus is managed and maintained by Parking and Transportation. In addition to providing dedicated maintenance from permit revenue, enforcing the space as a reserved parking lot helps ensure employee and business parking is available during primary business hours.
Parking facilities at Oakdale campus
East Lot
The East Lot is primarily reserved for student storage parking but offers some public parking. The lot can be found on GPS maps as “East Lot – University of Iowa”.
Bus service to East Lot is available but limited. See the 34 Research Park route page for details and download the Transit App to help plan trips.
Research Park Student Storage Permit
The majority of the lot is reserved for student permit holders. You must be residing in a university residence hall to qualify for this permit. Permits are sold on a first come, first serve basis and may sell out.
Public parking
There is one row dedicated to public parking located closest to Old Hospital Rd. The public parking spaces are free and are first come, first serve.

Integrated Services Center (ISC), Lot 201
A parking permit is required on weekdays during the enforcement hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Permits allowed during enforcement hours include: OAK and main campus employee and student permits. NW permits are not allowed during business hours, until 3 p.m.
