Parking and Transportation’s operations are focused on supporting the critical operations of UI Hospitals & Clinics and the university. The department will continue to evaluate and modify processes and operations in accordance with recommendations from public health officials to prevent the spread of COVID-19. West Campus temporary parking relocations end Tuesday March 2, 2021

  • The temporary parking relocations on the West Campus can no longer be maintained due to ongoing capacity concerns. Temporary parking relocations for Parking Lot 85, Hawkeye Commuter and Parking Lot 65, Finkbine Commuter permit holders will end Tuesday, March 2.
  • To reduce bus occupancy due to COVID-19, CAMBUS service will increase during the morning and evening peak commute for Hawk Lot-Hospital and Hospital-Finkbine Arena routes. Please see the CAMBUS service alert for complete details.
  • Beginning March 3, Hawk Lot-Hospital route service will be increased to 5-minute frequency during peak commute times. Hospital-Finkbine Arena route will continue to provide service every 2 to 3 minutes during peak commute times. On-Demand shuttle provides transportation on weeknights from 8:45 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Parking Lot 85 permits honored in Parking Lots 65 and 55

  • Parking Lot 85 permit holders are reminded that these permits are also currently honored in Parking Lot 55, Hancher. Using Parking Lot 55 will help reduce capacity pressures in Parking Lot 65. Temporary parking relocation options for Lot 85 permit holders will end on or before March 31, 2021. Weather or other factors may require that the temporary relocations end or be adjusted again prior to March 31.

  • Parking Lot 65 permit holders are reminded that these permits are also currently honored in Parking Lot 48, Myrtle and Parking Lot 55, Hancher. Using Parking Lot 48 and 55 will help reduce capacity pressures in Parking Lot 65. Temporary parking relocation options for Lot 65 permit holders will end on or before March 31, 2021.Weather or other factors may require that the temporary relocations end or be adjusted again prior to March 31.

Hawkeye Commuter permit holders relocated to decrease Cambus ridership during winter due to the pandemic

  • Cambus and Parking Operations are working strategically to reduce transit ridership from Parking Lot 85, Hawkeye Commuter during the winter months. Parking Operations is temporarily relocating permit holders from Parking Lot 85 to closer, more convenient and walkable, parking locations from Nov. 9 through March 31. Permit holders will be emailed with their temporary reassignment location the week of Nov. 2.
  • Parking Lot 85 permit holders are being relocated to underused capacity throughout the west campus. Weather or other uncontrollable factors may require that the temporary relocations end prior to March 31. Data analysis to determine how many permit holders can be temporarily added to each parking lot also accounts for the typical impact of snow events.

Parking updates effective May 12, 2020 for west campus

  • UI Hospitals & Clinics is increasing patient visits and services to provide needed care. Providing additional patient care requires more faculty and staff to be on the west campus and therefore more parking demand. Most parking permit holders that were temporarily reassigned, except for Parking Lot 85 (Hawkeye), need to return to their designated parking lot beginning Tuesday, May 12. A select number of permit holders based upon seniority will remain reassigned until further notice to limit the demand on a single parking lot. These permit holders that remain temporarily reassigned will be notified via email.

Open, no cost parking available for faculty and staff without parking permits

  • Employees who do not have a parking permit may park in Parking Lot 48 (Myrtle Avenue Lot) or Parking Lot 55 (Hancher). These parking lots are open parking and do not require any parking permit at this time.
  • CAMBUS is providing Weekday interim service to Parking Lot 55. View Red Route, Blue Route, and Hospital via Hancher service. Riders are encouraged to download the app Transit.

Parking alert: Fees waived for parking permits, van pool, and bus pass for March and April 2020

  • In response to COVID-19, UI Parking and Transportation has announced it will waive faculty and staff fees for parking permits, van pools, and bus passes. Fees have been waived for March and April and will be reflected in April and May paychecks. Waiving those fees allows Parking and Transportation to implement necessary changes and provide relief to customers during this difficult time.
