Starting January of 2024, UI Parking and Transportation will charge a rate of $0.16 per kWh for the use of public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on campus. This decision is in response to the State of Iowa passing the Electric Fuel Excise Tax, which taxes electricity used to charge EVs.
