Faculty and staff

University of Iowa faculty and staff employed 50% time or more in a permanent position are eligible for a parking assignment to a Faculty/Staff parking facility. An employee’s eligibility for a specific parking facility is based on their campus work address. See the Faculty/Staff Permit Parking Assignment Policy for full detail.

Students admitted into the College of Law qualify for one of the options below or any other graduate school parking permit options. Permits can be cancelled at any time for a prorated refund.  

Option 1:  Student Prepaid Myrtle Lot 48

The parking permit price can be found on our rates page. Permits are billed by semester and will financially renew on Jan. 1 for the spring semester unless cancelled beforehand. This permit allows access to Parking Lot 48 and includes privileges for use in Parking Lot 34 plus all public parking facilities on campus on nights and weekends. Lot 34 cannot be used on football gamedays.  

The student prepaid Myrtle Lot 48 permit is valid from Aug. 16 - May 15. 

Summer permits can be purchased starting May 1 through the online Parking Portal. Summer permits are valid May 16 - Aug. 15. Permits can be cancelled at any time for a pro-rated refund.

Option 2:  Park Mobile zone located in Lot 48

You must pay the hourly rate for the time you are parked in zone 5132. You will need to  download the ParkMobile App to pay.

How to order your virtual permit

Log into the Parking Portal, then select the Student Prepaid Myrtle (if available). If the permit is sold out, you can join the wait list and an offer will be made as space becomes available.

Make sure all vehicle information is entered accurately as your license plate will be your permit. Failure to accurately provide your vehicle information will result in a citation.  

You will need to retrieve a parking access card from Parking Services if you wish to utilize the Night and Weekend privileges

How to cancel your permit

To cancel your permit you will need to complete the Cancel Permit Form. You will be charged for the permit until it is cancelled or expires.  You will receive a refund if cancelled before the end of the semester as we prorate by half month. If you fail to cancel your permit you are responsible for the time the permit was active. Your refund will be based on the date you complete the cancellation form.
